Avengers: Infinity War is Coming and I’m kind of geeking out

Avengers: Infinity War is coming and I'm kind of geeking out about that. I'm a little bit of a Johnny Come Lately to Marvel fandom. Better late than never, right?

I didn't grow up reading Marvel comics so when the movies started coming out, I wasn't first in line to see them. In fact, I didn't get interested in Marvel at all until 2012 when Thor came out. Call me shallow and superficial but I think we can probably all guess why I was interested in seeing Thor.

For the awesome acting and special effects, of course.

Okay, so maybe Chris Hemsworth as Thor is kind of nice to look at but the characters and the storyline drew me in and made me want more Marvel.

I didn't full realize how Marvel Studios had interwoven all of their movies together and how the relationships between the various characters had developed until last year. I've now not only watched (and re-watched) all of the movies in the appropriate order, but I'm sharing them with my two boys. Basically, we've become a family of Marvel geeks.

Yes, I said I'm a Marvel geek. Who would have ever thought?

I'm excited to share this trailer with you:

I've watched this trailer more times that I can count and I see something new each time. Getting all of these amazing characters together in one movie is going to equate to one epic movie. The individual characters are all so interesting on their own, so seeing them interact with each other is going to be INSANE.

Of course, this might force me to decide who I like better, Peter Quill or Tony Stark. I like them for the same reasons: arrogant and snarky, but an all-around good guy underneath that gritty exterior. I still have a few more weeks before I have to make that decision, though.

I've been excited for movies to hit the theaters before but Avengers: Infinity War is extra-special. It's like your cool work friends and your cool brunch friends and your cool neighborhood friends are all together in one place. Except that there is lots of high-tech weaponry and a cadre of evil villains that want to take down humanity. You get the analogy, right?

To say Avengers: Infinity War has a super all-star lineup is a massive understatement. Check out this poster:

I'm pretty sure we're framing this one!

If you haven't checked out the awesome Marvel Studios movies, you have some time…not a ton, but enough…to catch yourself up before Avengers: Infinity War comes out. If you don't think these are “your kind of movies” give them a chance. Yes, there are superheros and a ton of action, booms and explosives. But, the character development and the acting are top-notch and most of them make great family entertainment, providing your kids can handle a bit of intensity.

Avengers: Infinity War is coming and I know where I'll be on April 27th!
