The 2019 Disney Studios Motion Picture Slate is Here!
2018 was such an outstanding year at the movies and Disney blew it out of the water with some amazing films. My 2018 favorite was Ant-Man and The Wasp because not only am I a huge, obnoxiously geeky Marvel Fan, but because we needed that lightness (as well as a few questions answered) after Avengers: Infinity War) but I'm excited and proud to say I've seen every movie on the 2018 list. Christopher Robin also holds a special place in my heart because I was invited to attend the red carpet premiere on the Disney Studios lot – MAJOR dream come true. The surprise for me was A Wrinkle in Time, because I didn't really like the book. I'm always a “book was better than the movie” girl, but this was an exception and so visually delightful. But on to 2019, and if you haven't seen the 2018 movies on my list, it's certainly never too late. How Disney manages to out-do themselves, I don't know, but its no surprise. Disney Studios, Pixar, Marvel Studios and Lucas Films have such a strong track record of blockbusters that we pretty much expect greatness…and they deliver. So…are you ready for the 2019 Disney Studios Motion Picture Slate? I know I'm ready to see ALL of these movies.

You can purchase movie tickets on line through Fandango prior to the release date…I just think that's so cool and it makes the wait for the movies you REALLY want to see a little more bearable.
This post has a synopsis of what the movies are about (as much as we know right now) and all of the trailers that have been released as of this date. I'll update the post when new trailers and more info drop, so feel free to pin this or save it for a handy-dandy reference for the new movies coming out.

Captain Marvel – March 8
One word for this one. BADASS. I'm hoping Captain Marvel will answer some of the questions we have after Avengers:Infinity War.
Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.
The film stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, Mckenna Grace, with Annette Bening, with Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.
Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is produced by Kevin Feige and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jonathan Schwartz, Patricia Whitcher and Stan Lee are the executive producers. The story is by Nicole Perlman and Joe Shrapnel & Anna Waterhouse, and the screenplay is by Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck and Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Jac Schaeffer.
Marvel Studios’ CAPTAIN MARVEL opens on March 8, 2019 in U.S. theaters.
DUMBO – March 29
I saw the preview for this one on the big screen and it gave me chills. We are all familiar with this story but Disney has definitely breathed some new life into it. I can't wait!
From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the all-new grand live-action adventure “Dumbo” expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.

Penguins (Disneynature) – April 17
If you've never seen a Disneynature film, you should definitely check them out. We saw Born in China a couple of years ago and it was so well done and so educational.
Disneynature’s all-new feature film “Penguins” is a coming-of-age story about an Adélie penguin named Steve who joins millions of fellow males in the icy Antarctic spring on a quest to build a suitable nest, find a life partner and start a family. None of it comes easily for him, especially considering he's targeted by everything from killer whales to leopard seals, who unapologetically threaten his happily ever after. From the filmmaking team behind “Bears” and “Chimpanzee,” Disneynature’s “Penguins” opens in theaters nationwide in time for Earth Day 2019.

Avengers: Endgame – April 26
I am both impatiently awaiting this and dreading it. I know it will answer a lot of questions but these Marvel characters are very beloved and real to us and I know some of them didn't make it. Well…I don't know know but I'm preparing myself for the worst.
In true Marvel fashion, they are keeping us guessing for now. There's lots to take in in this very short trailer.
I loved Tessa's reaction to this one, too, almost as much as the real trailer.
Aladdin – May 24
I love this story and I love Will Smith…it will be super interesting to see if he can step into those very large genie shoes.

Toy Story 4 – June 21
I love these characters and they never get old for me. With the opening of Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios last summer, I predict Toy Story 4 is going to be insanely popular.
Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy. Directed by Josh Cooley (“Riley’s First Date?”) and produced by Jonas Rivera (“Inside Out,” “Up”) and Mark Nielsen (associate producer “Inside Out”).

The Lion King – July 19
Of all the movies that are being released this year, THIS is the one I am most looking forward (behind the Marvel ones, of course…those are always going to top my list). And also, I want a lion cub. So will you after watching the trailer.
Director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King” journey’s to the African savannah where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother–and former heir to the throne-has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. The all-star cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon, “The Lion King” utilizes pioneer filmmaking techniques to bring these treasured characters to life in a whole new way.

Artemis Fowl – August 9
Disney’s “Artemis Fowl,” based on the beloved book by Eoin Colfer, is a fantastical, spellbinding adventure that follows the journey of 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, as he seeks to find his father who has mysteriously disappeared. With the help of his loyal protector Butler, Artemis sets out to find him, and in doing so uncovers an ancient, underground civilization—the amazingly advanced world of fairies. Deducing that his father’s disappearance is somehow connected to the secretive, reclusive fairy world, cunning Artemis concocts a dangerous plan—so dangerous that he ultimately finds himself in a perilous war of wits with the all-powerful fairies.
“Artemis Fowl” is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Tamara Smart, Nonzo Anozie, with Josh Gad, and Judi Dench. Judy Hofflund and Branagh are producing with Angus More Gordon and Matthew Jenkins serving as executive producers. Conor McPherson wrote the screenplay.

I love a great book adaptation and I'm excited to see Artemis Fowl on the big screen.
Frozen 2 – November 22
I am insanely curious to know what the story line is going to be. My kids have every. single. word. of dialog from Frozen committed to memory and I know they'll be excited to see Anna and Elsa again, no matter what.
UPDATE: The trailer was released on February 13th and it poses more questions than it answers. Still..it's going to be a very exciting movie. I can't believe I just typed that but I actually cannot wait to see it. More on Frozen 2 HERE.

I don't have any info on this one other than the release date but I'll share the trailer with you when it drops – you can count on that.
