FAQs

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my blog. Your comments and emails really mean a lot to me and I love reading them.  Like a lot of you, my life and my inbox get cluttered. I do try really hard to keep up with everything and send personal responses as much as I can but I took a minute to list a few of the things that people most commonly ask me:

  1. How do you like your coffee?

I’m totally kidding. No reader has ever asked me that. Since you’re probably curious now, I drink it black but I really like the occasional sweet iced coffee drink from Starbucks. I’m a bitch if I don’t have coffee first thing in the morning.

  1. Will you review my book?

Ripped Jeans and Bifocals isn’t a book review blog. I will accept a complimentary book if an author would like to send me one but I cannot guarantee a review or a mention. And…I promise not to ask you to take the time to mail me a book I know I will never read…so if you’ve written something along the lines of “How your life will be infinitely better without the 3 c’s: Chocolate, coffee and carbs” just don’t bother. Seriously, don’t be shy about reaching out. If it’s something that’s not up my alley, I will tell you in a really, really nice way.

  1. Can you tell me how to start a blog?

I appreciate that you would ask me that question but I’m not a blogging expert. If you like my blog design, you can ping the cool cookie who designed this blog by clicking HERE. If you have basic blogging questions, sites like Fabulous Blogging, Blog Clarity and BlogHer are great resources. Me?  Not so much.

  1. Can you read/share my blog post with your readers?

I read and follow a lot of blogs. While I try really hard to read everything that is sent to me, I can’t always work it into my schedule. I share a very specific genre of writing with my readers and friends on social media and I actively seek out things that I think my audience (psst, that’s you!) will relate to and enjoy. I can’t promise I can share everything that you take the time to send me but I do like to read new blogs!

  1. Can you give me feedback on my blog/blog post?

I love the opportunity to help other bloggers, especially newbies! I offer editing and blog coaching services. I can copy edit a single piece and offer suggestions if you're interested in submissions-based websites. If you have larger editign projects in mind, we can talk.  If you'd like a comprehensive, in-depth review of your blog, I offer that, too!  Check out my Editing and Blog Coaching Services page for more info.

My rates are very competitive. I know what it’s like to be new and wonder “Am I doing this right?” and needing feedback from someone that’s not related to me.

  1. Can you give me adoption advice?

No. Our last adoption was in 2013 and things change. There’s a lot of diversity in adoption programs and as much as I am touched that anyone would ask me, I would hate to give anyone bad info. Find a reputable agency or ask someone in your community who has recently adopted and go from there. I periodically publish material on Ripped Jeans and Bifocals about adoption from the parent’s perspective (adoption day celebrations, nosy questions, attachment, post-adoption depression, school and adoption, special needs adoption) so if you’re having trouble finding something, just ask me and I’ll point you to things I’ve written or things that I like from other adoption writers.

Although I can’t give you adoption advice, I am very humbled and honored when you choose to share your adoption stories with me, so keep those coming!

  1. Can you speak at my event or come to my book club?

Maybe! Please see my SPEAKER page for more information.

  1. Can you share my event/cause/fundraiser?

I get a lot of requests to advertise events that sound absolutely fabulous to raise money for what appear to be wonderful causes, events, or kickstarter campaings. I wish I could share them all on my blog/social media but I just can't. Please feel free to keep me in the know of what you're doing and I'll share it if it fits with what I'm writing about.

Thank you again to take the time to read my blog and hang out with me online.  Please feel free to drop me a line at rippedjeansandbifocalsblog@gmail.com if you have any questions or if you just want to say hi!
